November 30, 2012

Was going to go to a tree lighting tonight, but it's pouring buckets. So instead I'm going to bed. And I'm happy about it :)

November 29, 2012

Today's work project... that's a lotta braid. I think it may be time to get my hair thinned again...

What happens when you realize you don't know how to stop the knitting? Hint: the answer is not just pull the needles out and tie a knot...

November 26, 2012

This is what happens when you've bought clothes and underwear instead of doing laundry. Eventually, your clothes outgrow not only the laundry basket, but your closet as well. It's mostly scrubs, bit as you can see, I clearly have plenty more clean land hung up ready to go...

'Tis the season at work. Love this little tree!!

November 23, 2012

It's the most wonderful time of the year!! Day one of Christmas music :)

November 22, 2012

The remains of our 8-hour feast at work. Yes the remains, as in what's left AFTER we've eaten for eight hours already.

November 21, 2012

I love vacation, but I can't tell you how glad I was to come home to this... after an 8-hour shift.

November 20, 1012

On our last day (among other things) we went to Wormsloe Historic Site. It's a beautiful little (large) revolutionary-era plantation, complete with 400 yards of live-oak lined paths, spanish moss, and the ruins of a home built in 1734.  I've decided that I need my own plantation. Actually I don't need the plantation so much as I need the plantation house complete with horses, carriage, and 400 yards of live-oak lined dirt driveway. Sigh, I don't want to go home. Other highlights of the day include eating at Paula Dean's restaurant, visiting the majestic Bonaventure Cemetary, taking photos of the house lived in by the author of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and a small detour to what turned out to NOT be a puppet shop. Always an adventure :)

November 19, 2012

Beautiful Forsyth Park in Savannah, GA. It's fair to say that I'm absolutely smitten with the South!!! We went on a guided tour, a ghost tour, ate at a pirate house where they had a tunnel dug underground to get rum in and drunken sailors out to get 'shanghai-ed' into piracy in colonial times. Awe-some!

November 18, 2012

Can I post pictures of the same beautiful woman two days in a row? Of course I can. It's my blog. And again, this photo says a lot about our day. It was rainy. And windy. And cold. But clearly that didn't get us down much. We got these fashionable ponchos at Fort Sumter and they came in quite handy during the rest of the day as we went to the gardens at Middleton Place, and explored the rest of Charleston.

November 17, 2012

I took a lot of pictures today. A lot. Two guided tours of Charleston, two plantation tours and oh so much beautiful scenery. It was a wonderful day. But the one I like the most, the one that is the most representative of my day is this one of my beautiful mother. It was meant to be one of both of us, but I forgot the camera was zoomed in.  I have the most radiantly beautiful mother ever. She's just so happy and we had so much fun getting to know the South today. I love my mom!!

Today's dinner d'jour with Mandi.

November 13, 2012

Glad these babies were handy. I forgot I had traded a shift at work today and told a girl I'd work for her. I was in the middle  of hammering down the details for my vacation this weekend when the charge nurse texted me to say they had me on the schedule at 1900. It was currently 2140. Woopsie.

November 12, 2012

I'm knitting!! I knit now!! One of the gals at work taught me. She happens to be left handed, so not only do I knit, but I knit left handed! :)

November 11, 2012

That moment in the elevator when you finally have silence at work for 15 seconds... aaahhhh..

November 10, 2012

I was reviewing my finances today and for the first time in at least a year there was no travel expenses on the pie. I was sad until I realized that would change next weekend when I get to fly away again :)

November 8, 2012

This little guy caught a ride home with me all the way from the hospital this morning. Freeway and all! Also, I forgot how exhausting it was working until 0730 then trying to convince yourself to go to sleep when it's daytime and there's actually blue skies out!

November 6, 2012

Four years ago today, I was curled up on my midtown Manhattan couch watching with a proud tear in my eye, and listening with a warm sense of accomplishment to the celebrations on the street as my country elected a new president. Today I'm on my Seattle couch in the opposite corner of the country eating a local margerita pizza that is good, but not NYC. Elegant speach Mr. President. We stand behind you as one nation under God. Because no matter how you voted, that it was we are today. And for those of you who did not exercise this most basic of rights, shame on you.

November 5, 2012

Had to go with the poor lighting so you could see the point of the picture: 5 messages telling me who and what to vote for. Thank God the election is tomorrow and this will all be over for 4 more years!

*make that 6 as of 1900

You know it's been too long since you've fully gotten ready for the day when you finally do it and almost don't recognize yourself when you look in the mirror!!

November 3, 2012

I love having college football Saturdays off!! Today I woke up at noon, watched some football with cold pizza for breakfast, took a nap at 330 then woke up to watch more football :)

If you're going to have a cheat day, it may as well be a garlic-butter one!

November 1, 2012

Four college-educated emergency staff members come across a happy meal toy. None of them can figure out how it works or what it's supposed to do. Solution: surgery. Unfortunately no further information could be obtained. They were happy to learn that the 6-year old on you tube was unable to figure it out either. This humpty-dumpty could not be put back together again.
